AARC Asian Fantasy Character Workshop

The Asian American Resource Center invites children ages 4-10 to participate in an Asian Fantasy Character Design Workshop with award-winning children’s book artist and author, Yangsook Choi, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Children will meet mythical characters from ancient Asia, and then design their own characters! Stories include Filipino vampire Sigbin, Korean goblin Tokebi, a child sumo wrestler Kintaro, and a Nine-Tailed Foxx from the Han dynasty. The Menuhin Competition, the world’s leading competition for young violinists, takes place for the first time in the United States at the Butler School of Music on The University of Texas at #Austin campus, Feb. 21 to March 2. Two of the competitors currently reside in Texas: 12-year-old Claire Wells of Plano and Hao Miao, a University of North Texas undergraduate. Event includes concerts, master classes, and community activities with world-class musicians. Performances are open to the public and include #free and ticketed events.

2011 Austin Korean American Community Gala

The Korean American Association hosts its annual Korean American Community Gala on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.  The entire community is invited to enjoy an evening of authentic Korean elegance and entertainment.  Traditional Korean food will be provided as a four course dinner and special keynote speakers will help celebrate the Korean American community.  Many local Korean artists will exhibit their work.
