The 17th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival brings together Latino and indigenous filmmakers, actors, and screenwriters from all across the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula in Austin, Texas, April 22-27, 2014. This year’s festival honors and life and work of Efraín Gutiérrez, a pioneer of Mexican American cinema in Texas. All films are subtitled in English and are not rated. Festival passes and individual tickets are available. All screenings presented at the Emma S. Enjoy reggae and dub talent at the Austin Reggae Festival, April 18-20. This year’s festival takes place at Butler Park due to construction at Auditorium Shores. Headliners include Easy Star All-Stars, Inner Circle, Rootz Underground and Everton Blender. A portion of proceeds benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas. No tents, canopies or overnight camping at this year’s event.
