The Menuhin Competition, the world’s leading competition for young violinists, takes place for the first time in the United States at the Butler School of Music on The University of Texas at #Austin campus, Feb. 21 to March 2. Two of the competitors currently reside in Texas: 12-year-old Claire Wells of Plano and Hao Miao, a University of North Texas undergraduate. Event includes concerts, master classes, and community activities with world-class musicians. Performances are open to the public and include #free and ticketed events.

Boomerang’s 8th Annual Australia Day Party takes place Saturday, Jan. 25, beginning at Noon. A silent auction benefits Meals on Wheels and More, and a meat tray raffle benefits the Austin Crows Australian Rules Football Club. Aussie pies, beers and treats available for purchase. Activities for children include a bouncy castle and face painting. The famous Boomerang’s Aussie Pie Eating Contest starts at 5 p.m. (current record stands at 16.8 seconds for one pie).  #Austin #ATX #AustraliaDay

Austin Crows | Australian Rules Football Club | 2013 Season Practice Starts March 23

Austin CrowsOfficial training for the Austin Crows Australian Rules Football Club starts Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Zilker Park, Bottom Deck (northeast corner near Barton Springs Bridge). Subsequent trainings take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. The Crows encourage all new players, and welcome a number of new players every year. The Australian Rules Football season runs from March to October.

Australian Rules Football (Footy) has been in Austin for almost a decade. Members are predominantly from the U.S.A, but include a good number of Aussies and other nationalities. The Austin Crows are the Division 3, 2010 USAFL National Champions!
