Join instructor Raul Ramirez for a FREE two-hour Salsa Dance Workshop, Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. Mr. Ramirez will introduce participants to the fundamentals of leading and following steps to salsa music. No partner necessary. Limited space and preregistration required. The Pachanga Latino Music Festival, a Latin-themed music, cultural arts and food festival, takes place Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Fiesta Gardens. The lineup includes rock, alternative, tejano, mariachi, cumbia, salsa, electronic, funk, hip-hop and indie rock. Niños Rock Pachanga, an interactive kid’s festival, is also part of the fun. The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center continues its Cine de Oro (Golden Cinema) Series with the April screening of “Miracle of Marcelino,” on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 9:30 a.m.

Left on the doorstep of a monastery as an infant, Marcelino is raised by Monks. He is well cared for but lonely and longs for the mother he never knew. One day he finds a special friend in the forbidden attic . . . hanging on a cross. A friend that will repay Marcelino’s kindness by granting him one heart-felt wish. Directed by Ladislao Vajda, 1955. Spanish with English subtitles.

The film series takes place the last Tuesday of each month through May. All films are free.
