Austin Celtic Festival @ Fiesta Gardens, Nov 3-4

The 16th Annual Austin Celtic Festival takes place this weekend, Saturday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from Noon to 7:30 p.m. at Fiesta Gardens on Ladybird Lake.  The Austin Celtic Festival strives to bring to Austin the best stewards and most respected artists performing traditional Celtic music in the world, and the best regional performers in Texas and the United States. The festival also includes Irish and Scottish dancers, Scottish Highland games, history groups and reenactors, workshops and lectures, Celtic animals, craft vendors, and food. Admission. Children under 13 are free.

Austin Music and Culture Festival

Celebrate the many diverse cultures of Austin at the Music and Culture Festival, June 9-10, 2012, at The Utopia Theater, School of Social Work Building, UT Austin.  Saturday performances include Chinese traditional and fusion music and dance, Indian subcontinent traditional music, music from the British Isles, and Russian folk music.  Sunday’s lineup includes Czech music and folk songs, Middle Eastern world music, Latin and South American music, and African traditional music.  (See complete schedule below.)  Free AdmissionPark Free in Lot #12 on Martin Luther King between Trinity and San Jacinto, and walk one block north to the Social Work Building on San Jacinto Blvd.

50th Annual Salado Scottish Clan Gathering & Highland Games

For 50 years, representatives of Scottish Clans from all over the nation have gathered in the historic Village of Salado (50 miles north of Austin) to honor the history and traditions of Scotland.  Enjoy bagpipes and drums, Highland dancers, men in kilts, colorful tartans, Highland games, Celtic music and song, clan tents, shopping, food, and fun!  Admission.

November 11 –November 13, 2011.  Official opening games and parade take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

The Austin Celtic Festival is the largest gathering of Celts in Central Texas. Sherwood Forest Faire Celtic Festival and Highland Games

Experience the music, games, and artistry of the Celtic Nations (Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Ireland, and England) at the Sherwood Forest Faire Celtic Festival and Highland Games.  The festival includes over 100 performances per day across 20 performance spaces, 110 merchant booths, Celtic bands, competitive Scottish heavy athletics (Caber Toss, Stone Put, Hammer Throw), Irish dancing, history lectures, a harpist circle, family clans, bagpipe competitions, hand-made arts and crafts, and eats and ales.  Admission.
