The 123rd Annual Brenham Maifest, one of the oldest German Heritage festivals in the south, takes place in May 3-5, 2013, at Fireman’s Park in Brenham, Texas. A parade, live German music, arts and crafts vendors, dancing and festival foods are all part of the fun.

Join the German-Texan Heritage Society for a family-fun Springfest-Maifest on Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the German Free School. Music by The Austin Saengerrunde, The Polkadillos, Joe Klaus on accordion, and the Siekers (German bluegrass). Kid’s activities include a May Pole and bounce house. German food and drinks for all ages. Tickets: $5 in advance ($6 at the door); 12 and under FREE.

St. Nikolausmarkt: A Traditional German Christmas Market in Fredericksburg – Dec 7

St. Nikolausmarkt FredericksburgVisit Fredericksburg for St. Nikolausmarkt, a fun-filled Christmas festival highlighting the city’s German heritage, on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. St. Nikolausmarkt is held from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and includes arts and crafts; entertainment; German food, wine, and beer; photos with St. Nik; and a Lighted Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. A 26-foot Christmas Pyramid that was built by skilled craftsmen in Erzgebirge, Germany, will be on display through the first week in January.

German Christmas Market @ the German Free School – Dec 1

Join the German-Texan Heritage Society for its annual German Christmas Market on Sat., Dec. 1, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the German Free School. Featured items include hand-crafted wooden items from the Erzgebirge region of Germany, Bavarian Tolework, glass ornaments, embroidered linens, and home baked sweets and treats. Enjoy traditional German Christmas music plus a special visit by Saint Nikolaus. Lunch available from VERTS Döner Kebap (Berlin-inspired meat & veggie sandwiches). All sales are tax-free.
